The college plans to introduce other subjects viz., Pharmaceutics, Pharm. Chemistry, Pharmacology in post-graduate courses in Pharmacy.


14 April 1983

Saraswathi Vidya Bhavan was established to realize the vision of bringing / adding professionalism to education.

13 September 1993

First year of approval form All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) was obtained for admitting the first batch of 60 students for B.Pharm. Of Pharmacy was established.

4 October 1993

First meet of F.Y.B.Pharm Students of the new college.

30 November 1999

With a view to discovering the gifted talents of Pharmacy students, it was conceptualized & organized for the first time, a unique state level intercollegiate "Pharma Quiz" competition attracting students form several colleges from all over the state which is now a very popular yearly event running through 8 successful years in succession.

1 November 2000

Memorandum of understanding between the University of Missouri, Kansas City, School of Pharmacy, USA and SVB College of Pharmacy entered into, opening scope for fostering and development of cooperative relationship between the two institution for joint research activities, exchange of faculty, staff, students, materials, information technology, participation in seminars and such academic programmes.

14 April 2002

International Quality Standard ISO - 9001 : 2000 certification, awarded to SVB College of Pharmacy in recognition of its quality management system for imparting education and conduction academic courses – the first of its kind for educational institutions in Maharashtra. This was awarded through the hands of Dr. R. Chindambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India.

20 September 2003

Organised a five day National Seminar on "Trends in Pharmaceutical sciences and Pharmacy practices" - an integrated seminar for Academic, Industrial and research organizations aimed at bringing together pharmacists, academics and Industrial experts.

7 October 2003

AICTE approval for starting M. Pharm in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry was obtained for admitting the first batch of 10 students.

21 September 2005

National Assesment and Accredition committee ( NAAC ) a Division of University Grant Commission peer team conferred "B + grade" to SVB College of Pharmacy, instilling confidence to endeavour for 'A' grade.

31 January 2006

Foundation stone of NES International School Mumbai was laid and construction of the world class building started.

14 April 2006

National Education Society ( N.E.S ) Saraswathi Vidya Bhavan ( SVB ) and its founder President received the prestigious certificate of recognition as "Education leader" of the country form Asia - famed "Education World" Magazine.

15 May 2006

Extension of approval of AICTE was conveyed vide F. No. 740 - 89 - 119 ( P ) / RC / 95 dated 15 - 5 - 2006 for B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy for academic year 2006 - 2007.

19 January 2007

In tune with the annual theme "new ideas: New generation", the College organized a unique State level Intercollegiate competition on "Invention Project of Young Pharmaceutical Scientists – 2006 - 07" for the first time on 19th January 2007 to motivate and bring out the latent innovative and creative potentials of young pharmacy students and inspire them to undertake research. 16 Entries were selected form Pharmacy Colleges from Maharashtra and were adjudged by a team of three eminent scientists, and the best three entries were awarded cash prize of Rs. 15000/-, Rs. 10000/-, and 5000/- respectively. All the other 13 participating teams were given consolation prizes of Rs. 500/- each by the College Management.

With the twin object one of commemorating the Sesquicentennial celebration of the University of Mumbai and the other of creating and awareness of the vast potential of Herbal drugs through research leading to development of new Pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agro chemicals, and other products of immense economic value and potential benefits to society, organized a one day National Seminar on "Herbal drugs in Indian Scenario" on January 20, 2007. Attended by over 150 delegates form academia, industry, students and R & D scientists, various aspects of herbal drugs and developments were covered in lectures given by some of the well known and internationally reputed Indian Medical & Pharmaceutical scientists.

NES Institutions launched the Connective Learning program in partnership with leading IT companies - Pacsoft, Microsoft, Intel and HP aimed at modernizing the teaching and administrating and enhancing the teaching experts and learning experience of our students.

13 March 2007

NES, as actively contributed by SVB was awarded the prestigious "Indian merchants" Chamber RAM KRISHNA BAJAJ NATIONAL QUALITY AWARD2006”for "excellence in Education" by the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Mumabi being the best institution at all India Level and the first recipient of such award in education sector in India. The award was received by the Founder President Dr. R. Varadarajan at the hands of Mr. Rahul Bajaj, MP and Chairman , Bajaj Group of Industries.

University of Mumbai granted continuation of Affiliation for the B. Pharmacy course for the Academic Year 2007-08 and previous Years vide Aff / Recog / 1 / 7735 of 2007 dated 08 Nov 2007.
