Projects

1. Studies on Nyctanthes arbor-tristis for substituting Saffron.
2. Studies effects of co - administration of herbal and synthetic anticonvulsant drugs.
3. Nephroprotective activity of Picrorrhiza Kurroa.

All the three projects were funded by University of Mumbai.

Achievements

1. Recipient of International Travel Grant from 1 PA for paper presentation in USA.
2. Recipient of CSIR SRF during Ph. D course.
3. Recipient of National Merit Scholarship ( 1982 ).
4. Received a grant of Rs. 15.75 lakhs from National Medicinal Plant Board ( NMPB ) of AYUSH Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for the project entitled "Evaluation of medicinal and cosmetic utilities of Nyetanthes arbor-tristis", a substitute for saffron in September 2009 for a period of 30 Months.

1. Attended and delivered a short lecture on "Carotenoids versatile Phytonutrients" at NIPER, Int. Conference on Drug Development from Natural Products, Nov 2008. Also presented 2 Research papers.
2. Attended and presented one research paper at International Symposium on Carotenoids at Okinawa, Japan 2008.
3. 59th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress held at Varanasi, 20 th to 23 rd December 2007.
4. Seminar on Herbs and Herbal Products organized by IDMA in Mumbai in August 2007.
5. National Seminar on Herbal Drugs in Indian Scenario held at S.V.B.’s College of Pharmacy, Dombivli on January 20, 2007. Participated as a Resource Person.
6. Annual Meeting and Exposition of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists ( AAPS ) held at San Antonio, Texas, USA ( October 29 - November, 2006 ). Presented two research papers.
7. International Conference on Ethnopharmacology and Alternative Medicine, organized by National Society of Ethnopharmacology in January 20 - 22, 2006 at Amala Cancer Research Centre, Thrissur, Kerala ( India ). Presented Six research papers.

9. Attended a 2 day workshop on "Capacity Building national workshop for monograph development for herbals" organized by IPA / NMPB / IPC in Mumbai on 21 and 22 August 2009.
